Salvo Named World Champs!

Posted by: bootman

Congratulations to the Birmingham Salvo for winning the 2008 World Finals! They have just ended their match versus the OPTX and were able to get enough rounds in the second half of Counter-Strike: Source to put the win too far out of reach for the OPTX. The Salvo got off to a great start with a 5-2 win in Forza and a 2-1 win from Bazza in FIFA. It was then time for Dead or Alive where many thought that the OPTX would pull off such a large point differential that it would put the game out of reach for the Salvo unless they had a big Source win. Vanessa did her job with a 5-2 victory, but after an early lead from NinjaCW, he ended up coming up short to Messy with a 5-3 loss. The Salvo Source team had just ended a 6-3 first half, and only needed two rounds to win the overall match. They wasted no time in the second half going up quickly 2-1 to solidify the title of World Champions for the Birmingham Salvo. Congratulations Salvo, it was a well fought run!

Bootman's World Finals '08 Preview

Posted by: bootman

Tonight is the World Finals between the Birmingham Salvo and the San Francisco OPTX. Birmingham has had a solid year winning the EU/UK championship, and working their way to this very night after General Manager ODEE made some excellent draft picks after the 2008 combine. The San Francisco OPTX have been the underdog story this season though. They went from a mediocre season and losing in the first round of the playoffs, to beating the #1 3D.NY and London Mint just to snag the Wild Card spot in the world finals. They made a huge statement with an early upset over the Dallas Venom, and after a win over Berlin, they are now looking for a World Championship. Come inside for bootman's complete match preview as well as predictions for the night.

Venom Wins Cevo-P!

Posted by: bootman

After two long days of matches, the Dallas Venom's Counter-Strike: Source team has just defeated the Carolina Core in the grand finals of the Cevo-P playoffs. Tonights finals were played in a best of three format where the Venom were able to come out 2-1. After a disappointing loss on de_dust2, which is one of the team's better maps, the team started off the series 0-1. They then moved onto de_train where they experienced many connection problems, but were able to pull out the win after a back and forth match. The final map came down to de_inferno where the team had yet again, a very strong defense to start winning the half 8-4 and were able to pull out the win in the tenth round of the second half. The Dallas Venom are now $5,000 richer, which should add up nicely with their individual world finals money from the CGS as well. Congratulations to the Venom, you're off to a great start in the off-season!

Happy Birthday Zid!

Posted by: bootman

That's right everybody, the baby of the Dallas Venom, zid, is one year older today. Our big little man has just turned 20 today. Oh it seems like just yesterday when zid was only a teenager in high school getting accused of cheating online until he showed up to the CPL and blew some faces off of NiP. Zid is no longer a teenager, but a grown 20 year old man. It brings a tear to our eyes here at the Dallas Venom, but he'll always be our little baby. So everyone come inside and wish the Venom's Counter-Strike: Source team's strat caller a happy birthday! Only one more year until we get to try and convince him to make some bad decisions.

What's the biggest surprise this season?

Complexity's collapse
Eafra's FIFA play
New York's Source team
Venom winning streak
Master's dominance
Vanessa losing a match
