Starting off this week in review, let's talk about one of the two matches that ended up in a tie, our very own Dallas Venom vs. 3D.NY! That actually brings back terrible, terrible memories that I, bootman, still have to this day of coaching 3D at ESWC 2005 where we were the first ever team in ESWC history to tie all three of our matches in the second stage of group play and not move on to the bracket play of the event. MAKE THE VOICES STOP!

Anyways, this excellently even match kicked off with Dead or Alive where Master was able to beat Cheppelle by one round in a very close match. On the other hand though, Dallas' new female hopeful phoenix suffered a 5-4 loss to the birthday girl Coolsvilla. I'll be honest, I was a little disappointed about Phoenix's loss to Cools after having such a strong battle with Vanessa in week two, but hopefully she can pick it back up and show her real skills in the following two weeks.

Next up we have Barmoa's amazing game against world class FIFA player WiZaKoR. Barmoa really proved with this match that he in fact did deserve to be drafted into the big leagues by taking out WiZaKoR with a 3-0 victory. Without this shutout from Barmoa, 3D would have taken the match entirely.

There wasn't anything too exciting the following night for Counter-Strike source though, it was a classic match on de_nuke. The team that doesn't have a strong offense in the first half, finds it extremely difficult to have a complete blowout when playing their defense. The word on the street is that the CGS may actually use this map in regular league play, and hopefully we can see much more creativity when it comes to various teams' offense.

As the weeks go on, Forza becomes a little bit more of a shocker, and it seems like each of the racers are becoming a little bit more emotional and depressed. This week we saw ComeBackDan with his second first place finish in a row, to help secure the almighty tie with our Venom. I would say that Dan has found the drive to prove that he deserved his early draft pick, but then I stumbled across this little dilly of a suicide note in his blog. Don't worry Dan, I'm sure someone will eventually realize that there is at least an ounce of skill in being a CGS player, and he will lead you to the motherland like a modern day Cyber Moses.

Outstanding Performance
Venom|Barmoa

Barmoa proved in this match he can compete with the big boys with this very dominant win over WiZaKoR. Barmoa did a great job controlling his opponent and showed that he is a very smart and tactical player.

While Vanessa did as well as she was supposed to in her match against belle, PerfectLegend suffered his first loss of the season to first round draft pick from the OPTX, NinjaCW. Belle, we won't harp on you for this one, Vanessa is one tough cookie. But PL, you did us dirty! This match between the men was one of alternate characters that let down the much built hype from this online preseason match, so it's not a complete upset. I am sure PL is mad that he did not go undefeated in this training camp, but now it's up to Master to hopefully carry that torch, but PL will have the chance to strip that away from him tomorrow night.

Stermy's back everyone! He's back in the states! But, the lag factor he had while back in Italy may have been more of a blessing in this training camp. After a pretty surprising win over Anomaly in week one, and sitting out for week two, being back in the states, I was hoping Stermy would prove me wrong and show that he is going to be one of the stronger competitors this season, and he had a great opportunity to prove it against KreeganBG in this match that he sadly lost 4-2. In other news though, reading Kreegan's blog, we have found that Rowan Atkinson is his favorite comedic actor, and hopefully the prize for top FIFA player in season 2 of the CGS is taste in good movies, because it looks like we might have a new #1 FIFA player.

Ohhhhhhhh the controversy surrounding the Counter-Strike: Source match of the week between OPTX and coL, how I love you so. I haven't seen this much talk about a coL Counter-Strike story since the playoffs for CEVO! Did you pull the plug Wardino? Did you strut over to that router and pull that plug like weenus did his aunt Faye back in '98? Am I kidding? Maybe. I just find it a little suspicious that the team you are beating 7-0 wins seven straight rounds and your connection drops.

Can anyone prove it?

Of course not. But the OPTX was still able to pull out the win with their taxi player Griff back in action with Paradox. Congrats San Fran, keep up the hot streak.

The week ended for these two teams with Forza in a very close scoring race. Chavisan was able to finish in the first place position, but the teamwork from San Francisco shutting down GTO from putting any points on the board helped secure the victory for OPTX over CompLexity overall. San Francisco has been quite impressive during this preseason to say the least, let's see if they can keep it up.

Outstanding Performance
OPTX|Source Team

The fellas from OPTX have continued their winning streak by dropping the #1 source team in the world, they more than deserved this award. Connection problems aside, winning nine straight rounds is a big deal when it comes to Counter-Strike.

Good lord, two tied matches in a single night? How is this happening. Oh I know how its happening... people under performing online! Excuses ahoy! Lets just throw ourselves head into it and 'wallride' it as they say in the Forza blogs.

Brian Flander's blog in a nutshell.

The week started off for the match with OffbeatNinja falling to Black Mamba. Is this becoming a habit now? Offbeat has essentially fallen off of the wagon as the number #1 Dead or Alive male. I expected this to have cleared itself up by now but its just not happening. Online or not, Dolven needs to start sweating this one. The dominance of his Dead or Alive division was part of what held the team so firmly in second place. Kasumi Chan was then steam rolled by a brutally offensive Mystik, who seems to have spent the last two weeks making her opponents pay for sitting around so long in the player pool at the draft.

FIFA was a nice uneventful match up, with both players showing a lack of offense for the two regulation periods, and coming down to penalty kicks. This was a pretty good chance for Anomaly, who's struggled to say the least since the move to FIFA 08. It wasn't in the cards for Anomaly though, as he lost by a single point to his replacement, Eafra.

With Counter-Strike: Source, things seemed to be back on track, slightly. A lot of the Carolina players were finally flashing some steel by putting up respectable numbers, we saw big rounds from Sonny, who was finally earning his blog stripes, and all was well with the world. Until Chicago and taxi player Pham decided to push it over the edge and win 12-6.

Chicago with Pham is a strong team, and I've been saying it on my Counter-Strike: Source recap for two weeks now, but Brian Flander, as explicitly stated in his blog, isn't interested. Hopefully for Pham, another General Manager is.

Forza was last, and while I'm not quite sure, I'm almost positive at this point that the Chicago players are doing this on purpose. Are you trying to prove a point? Is this you trying to see if Flander will taxi you? I know... hell, the whole CGS community knows you're better than this. Don't get me wrong, Phantom does win races and earn money or whatever it is that his obnoxious signature says, but still. You spent an entire season making this guy your girlfriend, taking him out to seafood dinners and then never calling him again, and now because we moved to another game, you're going to become his prison ho, holding onto his pocket like this? Grow a pair... or a pair of a pair, Chimera Forza team!

Outstanding Performance
Chicago Chimera Counter-Strike: Source taxi player Ryan Pham

This guy has put up respectable numbers, played extremely well and hand in hand with the team he taxis for, and for all of his trouble, you have Brian Flander posting a blog that states; "Close, but not quite, hang in their buddy!" with a picture of a kitten on a tree branch. I wasn't a huge Pham fan over the years, but he's definitely grown on me, given his performance in the position he's in. I hope to see him in Los Angeles this summer.

Great wrap up. I agree with you that Pham should be playing and Flanders is undermining the whole purpose of the preseason by saying its not an open competition. He should have been drafted originally and it will be a shame for him to not be on a team come regular season time.
