News Post Alleges CPL Closure; CPL Denies Allegations

Over the past few months with the G7 boycott of the CPL Winter Championships the word controversy seems to have become synonymous with the CPL. Just when things were calming down, Martijn “CAL|Martijn” Bloemheuvel made a post to the CPL main page alleging that the CPL is dead due to the termination of Chris “CPL|ChrisM” Moncivalles and the forthcoming termination of Mike “CPL|Allen” Allen. In his post, Martijn also touches on communications issues, elaborating on how Angel Munoz “won’t talk to anyone anymore about what’s going to happen which leaves certain people stuck in limbo.”

Once word of this post got out, the CPL refuted the allegations, and went on to say that while the employees in question were still employed, no comment could be made as the matter is now a legal issue. Also in the response, the CPL suggested that Martijn was a hacker behind attacks slandering the CPL/CAL organizations.

After reading the article on GotFrag, I contacted Martijn to see if there was anything else he would like to add. During our short conversation, he linked me to a screenshot of the now-removed response he had posted. The post stated that the CPL’s allegations of Martijn being a hacker are “highly overstated” and he goes on to elaborate reasons why this was not a plausible allegation.
