Match Overview

coolsvilla looks to make another chapter in history by defeating Vanessa.

The first round of the North American playoffs are over and they have been a bit of a shocker to most people. Today 3D.NY and the San Francisco OPTX will face off for the 3rd place title of North America. The winner of this match will then face the 3rd place of the EU/UK final the London Mint for the wildcard spot in the World Final event later this month.

3D.NY, the #1 seed heading into the playoffs played against the #4 seed Carolina Core last night and suffered an unpredictable sweep. After a hard fought season and 3D ending it with a 10-2 overall record, nobody could have predicted the 26-13 loss that 3D suffered yesterday. In recent events, coolsvilla seemed almost untouchable, but when she opened up the night with a 0-5 loss to Mystik, the rest went downhill for team 3D as they lost every game following.

The San Francisco OPTX went up against Dallas Venom last night in probably the most surprising match of the season. San Francisco was off to a good start with their rookie DoA male being able to pull off a huge 5-4 upset against the #1 Master. Immediately following they took FIFA in a 3-1 game that came down to penalty kicks. It was then that the OPTX lost their momentum and allowed the Venom to take down the OPTX. OPTX's all-star Vanessa suffered her second career loss in the female division consecutively to Venom's Phoenix and the Venom continued their dominance from there taking the overall match in a close 24-22 score.

Dead or Alive 4

Men: Cardell “Cheppelle” Thomas vs. Chris “NinjaCW” Harris

NinjaCW is coming into this match with an insane amount of momentum. He just beat the #1 Dead or Alive 4 male player last night in a very clutch win to open the night, and now he is being given the gift of playing the 6th place DoA male in the North American division. Although Cheppelle is last place in the league, he has surprised us with some close scores and clutch wins throughout the season. Can he do it once more today? We'll find out!

Women: Tanya “coolsvilla” Underwood vs. Vanessa “Vanessa” Arteaga

NinaCW needs a big win to help the OPTX.

I didn't think I'd get a chance to see this match. Prior to the North American playoffs, coolsvilla went 20-2 in her last four matches. Coolsvilla was putting up scores better than the #1 Vanessa in these matches. Although Vanessa suffered her first career loss just weeks ago, she managed to finish the season strong with an 11-1 record. On paper, it seems as though both of these women are coming into this match strong, but that's not the case at all, both have just suffered very heartbreaking losses. Last night we saw two amazing DoA 4 Female matches where coolsvilla lost 5-0 to a girl she beat 5-0 very recently in the first round of the playoffs. Then there is Vanessa who had the match of her life last night to prove that she was the #1 female in the CGS and she fell short of Phoenix once again with a 5-3 loss. Both of these ladies were shattered last night, and today's match it will really come down to whoever has a true champions heart and can bounce back from such defeat.

FIFA 08

Matt “WiZaKoR” Underwoord vs. Alessandro “Stermy” Avallone

This proves to be a very interesting matchup. Stermy was on the bottom last season, and has moved his way up to the top of the rankings and his opponent WiZaKoR was the world champ last season, but we're not seeing the same dominance. Despite their overall records, when you look at the head to head although stermy has a better record, he is 0-2 against WiZaKoR this season. We talk about momentum a lot in the CGS, as it is a huge factor, and even though stermy had a 3-1 victory last night, it was in penalty kicks so that doesn't amount to much on the momentum train. Expect a very close match tonight, but it seems as though WiZaKoR will continue his streak on stermy.

nickn0it (rookie) and Ksharp (veteran) will try to make moE eat his words in this match.

This is a highly anticipated match between the two source teams. A big win from either side can determine the winner of the overall match. This match is going to be huge for 3D as they will have to make up for some big points in the Dead or Alive division. 3D is currently on a two game losing streak, while the first loss against coL lost the overall match, their loss vs. Carolina last night was ultimately insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Then there is the OPTX. The OPTX had an extremely slow start to this season, and have been on fire ever since. They took down coL, they knocked Chicago out of the playoff run, and lost by one round to the #1 ranked Venom last night. The OPTX has the chance to seal the deal for San Francisco tonight, but a blowout loss can quickly counteract the points they can get from the other divisions.

Forza Motorsport 2

The 3D Forza team is one of the best in the league. They were even in a 3 way tie for first place with the Carolina Core and Chicago Chimera. Unfortunately for 3D, Carolina had the head to head advantage and they will be going to the individual finals. Hope is not yet lost for 3D's Forza team though as they have a chance to make some big points to help their team get the wildcard spot for the world final though. The San Francisco OPTX's racing team has only had one consistent factor, and that is miximup. The only hope that San Francisco has today is that miximup can take an early lead and keep it versus New York.

i say one round in CS:S because if that round went to the other team it'd be a tie and be forced into OT
